Road To E-Bike Conversion | She Loves It And It's Not Cheating!
Bicycles. She says its cheating but I say its not. I converted my girlfriends Specialized Dolce to an e bike (electric motor) and she absolutely loves it. I used a mid level conversion kit from Leed having a 250 watt 24 volt hub motor and a 10.4 amp hour battery. This conversion was very cool and unless you've tried an ebike yourself then please hold judgement until you have.A little background for you. Susan and I are both in our 60's. I've been riding for a couple years now and have an FTP about 195 but Susan is just starting out road biking. She has a hard time keeping up with me on rides and I'm a little frustrated going as slow as I need to for us to ride together.
Just so happens that GCN recently put up a video on E-Bikes and I thought what GCN presented might be a good way for the two of us to enjoy the sport of road biking a lot more together.
So I put a conversion kit on Susan's bike and off we went for a ride. The conversion to an e-bike we made turns out to be a great success as you'll see in this video.

About The Road Biker:
I'm an avid bike rider who got back into riding when I retired in my 60's. Last year (2019) I rode some 5,000 miles on my entry level Vilano Shadow Road Bike. Bicycles. She says its cheating but I say its not. I converted my girlfriends Specialized Dolce to an e bike (electric motor) and she absolutely loves it. I used a mid level conversion kit from Leed having a 250 watt 24 volt hub motor and a 10.4 amp hour battery. This conversion was very cool and unless you've tried an ebike yourself then please hold judgement until you have.
A little background for you. Susan and I are both in our 60's. I've been riding for a couple years now and have an FTP about 195 but Susan is just starting out road biking. She has a hard time keeping up with me on rides and I'm a little frustrated going as slow as I need to for us to ride together.
Just so happens that GCN recently put up a video on E-Bikes and I thought what GCN presented might be a good way for the two of us to enjoy the sport of road biking a lot more together.
So I put a conversion kit on Susan's bike and off we went for a ride. The conversion to an e-bike we made turns out to be a great success as you'll see in this video.

I'm an avid bike rider who got back into riding when I retired in my 60's. Last year (2019) I rode some 5,000 miles on my entry level Vilano Shadow Road Bike. I used to ride many years ago and in 2019 I thought riding a bike would offer me some much needed exercise. Like so many others who have tried out cycling I quickly got hooked and it wasn't long before I was taking even longer rides and learning new skills while discovering all about maintaining and updating my bike and kit.
I have always had a thing for photography and I soon began to take videos while out riding and before long I began to narrate the videos offering tips on road bike riding and maintenance. Anyway, while my story is nothing new it is my road biking story and the videos I make are a my way of telling it.
